This photo was taken by a U.S. Army Signal Corps photographer on 6 June 1944 at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. Assault troops of the 3d Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st U.S. Infantry Division, are shown in a protected area, with the chalk cliff at their backs, being treated for minor injuries by medics who landed with them. They later moved out to Colville-Sur-Mer.
