This photo was taken by a U.S. Marine Corps photographer on 21 August 1996 during Cooperative Osprey '96, a multi-nation training exercise at Camp Lejeune, NC. The aim of the exercise was to develop interoperability among the participating forces through practice in combined peacekeeping and humanitarian operations.

In the photo Canadian soldiers in the truck simulate convoy operations during a Situational Training Exercise. Sand bags are laid in the bed of the truck to protect the soldiers from mine blasts.
