This interesting photo from World War II shows a Dodge Weapons Carrier with a 37 mm cannon mounted in the back and a Browning M2 .50 cal. machine gun mounted on the front bumper. (The truck is a WC-55 3/4 ton 4x4 Gun Motor Carriage -- when the 37mm gun is mounted the combined weapons system is known as the M-6 Gun Motor Carriage (GMC).) The .50 cal. machine gun was used for defense against airplanes attacking the truck's position.
The undated photo was taken by a U.S. Army Signal Corps photographer. The Signal Corps logo and photo number are visible on the bottom.
