This photo was taken by a U.S. Marine Corps photographer showing the Marines ready to advance after Marine Corsair close-air support fighters plaster targets ahead. This action occurred in the Korean War during the fighting withdrawal of the 1st Marine Division from the Chosin Reservoir region. Billowing smoke and flames from the small, tight target areas bear out the accuracy of the flying Leathernecks' marksmanship. The date of the photo is stated as 6 December 1950.
