This photo was taken on 8 March 2001 by a U.S. Navy photographer. It shows an F/A-18 Hornet (top) and an F-14 Tomcat as they conduct routine flight operations over the Sea of Japan. The aircraft were operating from the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63).

The Hornet was attached to Strike Fighter Squadron 27 and the Tomcat was attached to Fighter Squadron 154, both from Atsugi Naval Air Facility, Japan.
