Staff Sergeant Howard Stevens, a Special Forces advisor to a Montagnard strike force, reading mail at a camp built in the central Vietnam highlands near Phey-Shuron, 15 January 1964. Stevens is part of a 12-man team training primitive Koho tribesmen to be soldiers in the jungle mountains west of Dalat during the U.S. advisor phase of the Vietnam War.
