Helicopters: Helicopters came of age in Vietnam, used to replace trucks carrying cargo and troops, as well as MedEvac, Search & Rescue, or scout/observation duties. Since Vietnam covered a long time period, from the late 1950s through 1975 for U.S. involvement, many of the items of equipment and weapons used by the armed forces evolved through different versions as the war went on.
